We teamed up with Building Pictures, Filipa Figueira and Tiago Vieira to feature weekly episodes of their video series “Arquitectura à Moda do Porto,” which highlights Porto’s most significant buildings over the last 20 years.
The series was launched in December 2013 and is comprised of 10 episodes, each focusing on a different theme: light, stairs, balconies, nature, textures, doors, windows, skylights, pavements and structures.
Last week we presented the series’ fifth episode on Porto’s textures, and now we present Episode 6 – Doors. Read the producers’ description of the video after the break.
EPISODE 6 – DOORS
From the red doors of João Carreira’s S. João National Theater and Aires Mateus’ Hard Club, we pass through the transparent doors of Adalberto Dias’ Casas Brancas Housing Block and Guindais Funicular. As we open the door of Nuno Valentin’s Lycée Français de Porto we close the doors of Paulo Providência’s S. Nicolau Public Baths and Virgínio Moutinho’s Lada Ateliers for Artists. On the way we go in and out of Fernando Távora’s Torre dos 24, Siza’s Serralves Foundation, Eduardo Souto de Moura’s Casa das Artes, and José Manuel Soares’ Porto Planetarium. Finally, we close the door of OMA’s Casa da Música.
